NDIS REGISTERED COUNSELOR, M.A.C.A (Level 1)
Lauren Walker is a valued member of the Ararat Wellness team, providing counselling services to NDIS participants, aged care clients, and private clients, as well as behaviour support services to NDIS participants. Lauren is a Registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and a Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Commission. She adopts a gentle, collaborative, and person-centred approach that supports individuals in improving their wellbeing, developing practical strategies, and working towards meaningful personal goals.
Lauren began her professional journey after completing her VCE in 2011 and later achieved a Diploma of Counselling in 2018, which laid the foundation for her work in the mental health and disability sectors. She remains committed to ongoing professional development and is currently completing a Bachelor of Social Science, further strengthening her knowledge and skills in behaviour support and counselling practice.
In her role as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, Lauren works with NDIS participants and collaborates closely with participants, families, and support teams to better understand individual needs and experiences, and to develop and implement evidence-based behaviour support plans for individuals with complex needs.
In her counselling practice, Lauren draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and expressive approaches. She adapts her therapeutic style to meet the unique needs of each individual and aims to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where clients feel heard and understood.
Lauren is passionate about supporting her local community and has been involved in mentoring initiatives within local schools, as well as contributing to other community volunteer programs. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys creative pursuits such as reading, art, and music.
Lauren is known for her warm, approachable, and compassionate nature. She is committed to ongoing professional development and strives to continually strengthen her practice to provide high-quality support to the individuals and families she serves.
