Kellie Sones

I bring a deeply holistic, relational, and lived approach to my work, shaped by both professional experience and personal journey.

My interest in wellbeing began many years ago through a background in remedial massage, where I developed a strong appreciation for holistic and Eastern-influenced approaches to health and regulation. This foundation has continued to guide my thinking — particularly the understanding that the body, nervous system, relationships, and environment are all interconnected.

Alongside this, I have spent many years raising four children, an experience that profoundly shaped my understanding of development, attachment, and the realities families face day-to-day. Parenting, combined with my professional work, has reinforced my belief that children do well when the adults around them feel supported, understood, and resourced.

Professionally, I hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and have worked for over 12 years within the education sector, including kindergarten and primary school settings. Much of my work focused on supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, ODD, intellectual disability, and complex behavioural presentations. Working within inclusive kindergarten environments, supporting children with diverse needs to participate meaningfully alongside their peers, before transitioning into a primary school education support role.

Throughout this time, I consistently sought out professional development in areas such as autism, attention and regulation differences, trauma, and behaviour support. What became increasingly clear to me was that behaviour does not occur in isolation. It is communication. It reflects a child’s nervous system, their experiences, and the environments they move through — often long before they have the words to explain what they are feeling.

This understanding led me to transition into my current role as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, a role I have been working in for over 18 months. My approach is grounded in identifying the why behind behaviour and supporting meaningful, practical changes within the participant’s environment, relationships, and daily routines — rather than focusing on “fixing” the person.

A significant influence on my practice since becoming a certified Interplay Facilitator has been the Interplay model / play based therapy putting words to the dyadic unconscious, to the unspoken experience. Which has helped shape my understanding of attunement, connection, and synchrony between children and their primary caregivers. I strongly believe that trauma can be present from very early life — even pre-birth — and that it is often expressed through behaviour, play, and relational patterns rather than words alone. By strengthening the connection between a child and their caregivers, and supporting the family system as a whole, we create the conditions for genuine regulation, safety, and growth.

My work is family-focused, strengths-based, and grounded in the belief that change happens through connection, understanding, and consistency, not control or compliance.

Outside of work, I value a slower, grounded lifestyle. I enjoy spending time outdoors — gardening, camping, relaxing by rivers, and being immersed in nature. I live on an acreage property where I care for animals, including dogs and ponies, and I am also a dog breeder. Family connection is deeply important to me, and I find the greatest joy in time spent together with family, animals, and the natural environment.
