Betty Slattery is a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner with three years in promoting positive behavioural outcomes for individuals with diverse needs. Recently relocating from the Snowy Mountains region of NSW, Betty is known for her compassionate approach, innovative strategies, and commitment to fostering independence and whole life well-being in those she works alongside. With over 20 years of experience in the Disability Support Industry across a range of roles (including Manager of Community Services of the Snowy Monaro), Betty specializes in implementing evidence-based interventions tailored to meet the unique requirements of each of the people she supports. She has worked extensively with children and adults across various settings, including schools, residential facilities, and community programs, exploring how to address the unmet needs behind challenging behaviours and enhancing connection and social skills. In addition to this experience, Betty has pursued ongoing professional development, acquiring certification as a Crisis Prevention Institute Trainer, and working to develop and deliver training programs for families and support teams in areas such as Delivering Sexual Health and Development Education for people with disability. This dedication to continuous learning both for herself and the teams of those she supports, allows Betty not only to refine her own methods, but also to skill build within individual teams in order to ensure the provision of the highest quality of care. Betty believes in a collaborative approach, working closely with families, educators, and other professionals to create comprehensive support plans that empower clients. She is skilled in conducting functional behaviour assessments, developing positive behaviour support plans, and offering training for staff and caregivers to ensure consistent implementation across environments. Passionate about advocacy, Betty is committed to raising awareness about the importance of behaviour support and the rights of individuals with disabilities. She actively participates in community events, workshops and seminars to educate others about effective behavioural strategies and fostering an inclusive environment. Outside of her professional life, Betty enjoys spending time with her family, reading and pursuing a range of creative projects. Her genuine care for individuals and unwavering determination to make a positive difference in the lives of others are at the heart of everything she does. Betty is passionate about treating those she works with as skilled experts in their own lives and strives to create opportunities for them to connect and communicate with their support teams to achieve whatever dreams they may aspire to.
